Spacious rooms, calming music and staff camera monitoring help create a peaceful stay.

Exercise and mental stimulation are tailored to each dog in consultation with the station’s veterinarian.

Cats have their own accommodation and care while they wait to be reunited with their owners.

Rooms have dog or cat television and calming classical music. A closed camera system lets staff monitor the animals when they are away from the building.
Dogs have access to outdoor enclosures. Exercise and training are tailored to each animal.
Staff receive training in animal diseases and dog training. Our focus is a positive experience, cooperation and trust.
At Mósel, we use Arquivet food, available from Pet Pro in Iceland.

Pet Pro offers a range of Arquivet foods. Visit petpro.is to explore food varieties, ingredients and feeding guidance for each product.
Explore food at Pet Pro ↗If your pet is to eat a different food, owners must deliver it to us before the stay. Please contact us in advance to discuss delivery.

When your pet lands in Iceland, it is brought to the airport’s dedicated pet reception area. There, we take the animals out of their travel crates, scan their microchips and check their documents.
Before setting off for Mósel, they have a little time to stretch their legs, drink water and have a small amount of food. The drive to our countryside station takes approximately an hour and a half, so we feel it is important to give them this break after their flight.

Care, rest and enrichment, tailored to each animal.
Dogs stay in rooms where they can rest without constantly seeing other dogs or people passing in the corridor. They have access to outdoor areas without seeing other dogs. Access is managed according to weather and temperature, with longer access when conditions allow.
Calming music and screen content help create a varied, homelike environment. A closed camera system helps staff monitor the animals when they are not with them.
Social contact, mental stimulation and exercise are important parts of each stay. Activities are tailored to each dog’s age, wellbeing and needs and may include off-lead exercise in the training room, ball games, treat searches, puzzles and treadmill exercise.
Sessions usually last 10–30 minutes and may be split into shorter periods throughout the day. The aim is a positive experience and an appropriate outlet for energy, with rest between activities.
Cats stay in spacious enclosures with climbing facilities and boxes to jump onto. They can watch staff going about their daily work in the corridor and have screen content available.
Care and enrichment are tailored to each cat’s needs and wellbeing.
We choose toys and chews with animal safety in mind. Soft toys and other fabric toys are not left in the animals’ rooms because they may tear them apart and swallow pieces.
If a dog shreds its bed or blankets, these are removed to reduce the risk of swallowing the material.
Tell us before arrival about medication, diagnosed chronic conditions and special care needs. Please provide the medication name, dose and administration instructions so we can pass this information to the station’s veterinarian. Please also tell us about stress and anything else that may help us care for your pet.
Discuss medication, calming products and supplements with your veterinarian before travel.
Animals are examined on arrival and again before discharge, in cooperation with the station’s veterinarian and MAST. Checks cover general health and signs of infectious disease.
The veterinarian advises staff on care, feeding and exercise. If a concern arises, we contact the owner as soon as possible.
One bath and blow-dry before discharge are included in the stay. Dogs are also bathed as needed if something comes up.
For additional grooming, bathing or blow-drying, please contact us by email in advance. Additional services are charged separately.
The station has smoke detectors, oxygen monitors and motion sensors connected to a security system. We have response plans for events such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
Animal safety and wellbeing come first. We follow Civil Protection guidance when conditions require it.
Before your pet arrives, we send you a questionnaire about its health, regular medication, chronic conditions and dietary needs. Your answers help us prepare appropriate care for the stay.
Please complete it and return it directly to Mósel before arrival. Let us know if any of the information changes after you have sent it.
Discharge takes place two weeks after the last animal in the intake group arrives, on either a Thursday or a Friday. Owners receive collection-time information by Facebook message or email.
Check the published discharge date for your intake group. Discharge is subject to the required veterinary checks and clearance.
Please arrange customs clearance before discharge, whether your pet is moving with you or was purchased abroad. We must receive the customs release authorisation before handing your pet over.
Transport to Reykjavík after quarantine is available on request for ISK 20,000. Please contact us in advance to arrange it.
